Following a pilot study (n=40) in a community centre, we are now evaluating the efficacy of an immersive sound-environment (Spherison Sound 6D™) in two studies designed in collaboration with the General Surgery Department of San Matteo Hospital (Pavia). The first study will evaluate the efficacy of music-medicine in reducing preoperative anxiety, the second study will evaluate the reduction of post-surgical pain. Both studies involve a crossover-trial controlled design.
