STUDY ON RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SENSORY, BEHAVIORAL AND BIOLOGICAL MARKERS IN ADULTS WITH AUTISM AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY

Intellectual Disability (ID) is the most prevalent (and maybe severe) comorbidity of Autism Specturm Disorders (ASD). However, this condition is often poorly investigated due to the lack of instruments and research opportunities, especially in adult individuals. We will look for specific evidence that may relate caregiver administered questionnaires (subjective) regarding behavior and sensory processing with objective blood-test to help filling the communicative gap between the ASD/ID condition and the neurotypical one. The primary aim is to relate sensory processing to behavioral scores, the secondary aims are to assess the presence of sensory/behavioral alterations with anomalies in the blood-tests and to test whether there are differences between two groups, one with ASD+ID and the other with ID only.
