THE ROLE OF RESILIENCE ON WELL-BEING AND PERCEIVED PERFORMANCE OF FLIGHT PERSONNEL

The project will regard a topic less studied in work and organizational psychology, since (if compared to other professional categories) flight personnel is not widely studied. This research project will engage both air traffic controllers, and pilots and air crew personnel. Some variables will be investigated in both samples (such as communication problems and management of critical events as possible stressors; psycho-somatic complaints as possible effects; individual and team resilience as moderators). Other factors will be considered on the basis of the specific professional demands: for example, customers’ mistreatment will be analyzed among air crew personnel, but not among air traffic controllers. Indicators of perceived performance will be considered for air traffic controllers, but not for air crew personnel.

The study will be carried out in collaboration with the main Italian trade unions. The project involves the use of statistical software SPSS (for basic and descriptive analyses) and MPlus (for mediation, moderation, and moderated mediation models).
